On Monday, October 19, 2020, the Pension Fund Office welcomed seven students and their teacher for an interactive session on Pensions and Budgeting. The session was led by Mrs. Monifa Brooks-Gumbs, Mr. Girdon Connor and Mrs. Lenia Simpson.
The students were introduced to the workings of the PSPF, guided through the various benefits Contributors receive, and given basic instruction on Budgeting. The students were encouraged to begin their journey to being financially responsible now, by developing the right mindset and controlling spending habits. Of equal importance was the ability to set realistic and achievable goals.
Overall the following topics were covered:
- Pension Legislation, Mission, Vision and Structure of the Public Service Pension Board
- Contributions and Benefits and Key Retirement Terms
- What is a loan and how do loans work?
- The Pension Fund Loan Programme
- Budgeting and sample budgets
Each student received a promotional bag and pen, pension information brochure and sample personal budgets.
The Public Service Pension Fund continues to accommodate requests to educate the youth of Anguilla in an overall aim of increasing financial education and accountability.
